The old town square lays in the very center of Spandau. Spandau's impressive Christmas Market is also located within the old town center. Well known outside of Berlin's borders, over a million people come each year to visit the over 500 various Christmas-oriented stands and market stalls. The Christmas Market is open all along the old town center throughout all of the weeks of Advent, spanning an area between the City Hall and St. Nikolai Church. During this time the entire old town is transformed into a veritable Christmas City that is not to be missed.
